Dental Clinic - Sorriso Natural
Invited to take part in the refurbishment of a dental clinic in Valongo, the need arose to communicate a new environment using minimalism as a language. The problem was the lack of space and the furniture, which was already unsuitable for this practice. Giving the space a new dynamic, both decoratively and materially, we introduced new textures and elements that could characterize this new space.
As a result, new, dynamic spaces are designed that can be expanded or reduced in relation to the existing structure. Each vertical piece of furniture is designed with a sliding system so that each user can slide it around, expanding the space according to their needs. Likewise, new lighting is proposed, negativated in the ceiling, thus creating a more intimate and enveloping atmosphere.
As a result, the concept of the “box” takes on special contours in this project. Instead of the watertight cell, a physically delimited and unalterable space, we propose an interactive space that is constantly changing. Whether for consultations or training, the space is adjustable according to its purpose.
To this end, not only furniture but also lighting was rethought. Being an integral part not only of furniture (cabinets and worktops) but also of ceilings and crown moldings, it gives the space a warm and welcoming tone. Since there is plenty of natural light, the recommended lighting will be predominantly indirect.
The clinical area is minimalist, welcoming and enveloping, using light, warm tones.
Likewise, as a floor, the choice fell on the application of marmoleum, a natural material that complies with all the specificities imposed by the ERS (Health Regulatory Authority), guaranteeing seamless continuity and ensuring the degree of asepsis.
Each project is properly monitored and processed before the health regulatory authority (ERS) and the respective licensing authority - the City Council.
